January Beach Walk

Alaska white sun blazes

cloudless blue sky.

Water ripples like textured glass.

Waves lap lightly to shore.

Stream tinkles through ice

over rocks.

Couples stroll laugh.

Groups jump, stumble.

Dogs run and stare.

Towards sun

 a lover’s gentle touch

on face.

Turn around

quiet wind slaps

like blowing ice.

  1. Your words really carried me away – I could almost feel that touch of ice in the wind. I love the lines ‘stream tinkles through ice over rocks.’ What an astonishingly beautiful sound that must be. Thanks for taking me to your part of the world for a brief minute.
